FRANK BUKOW

Born in Newark, New Jersey and eventually becoming a resident of Florida, this artist is currently living in Ponte Vedra Beach. His artistic ability came naturally at a young age and was encouraged and supported from the very start.

Initially using acrylics and still unfamiliar with oil, a chance encounter with world renowned portrait artist R.W. Cowan led to an apprenticeship at his studio in West Palm Beach, Florida where a detailed study in oil application opened his mind to a world of possibilities.

Current honors include the A.E. Backus “Call to Artists” contest in Fort Pierce, Florida in 2017, where this artist was honored with First Prize as well as the People’s Choice Award for his work titled, “A Congregation”. Following this, the artist entered The Artigras Art Show in Jupiter, Florida in 2020 where he introduced his first several pop art pieces and came away with the honor of “Judges Choice”. His art was featured at The Brewhouse Gallery in Lake Park, Florida, The Oditto Gallery in Palm Beach Florida and at The Vault at 1930 in San, Marcos, Florida.

Andy Warhol’s Campbell Soup can was a major inspiration to this artist, demonstrating an example of thinking outside of the box by exemplifying the use of social commentary which led to this artist finding his voice.
